At ARLYS® we carry a variety of additives, butters, carrier oils, creams, lotions, herbal infused oils and waxes to help facilitate the use of essential oils to the skin and or as additions to products.

Carrier oils, also referred to as base oils or vegetable oils, are used to dilute essential oils, CO2s and absolutes before applying to the skin. Each carrier oil offers different properties and the choice depends on the therapeutic benefit being sought. Unlike essential oils, carrier oils do not evaporate or impart their aroma as strongly as essential oils. However, they usually have a shorter shelf life and can be mixed with a natural preservative such as vitamin E or wheat germ oil for longer storage. Carrier oils should be natural and preferably cold-pressed. This ensures that the therapeutic qualities remain in the oil and have not been damaged by heat or chemicals. People allergic to nuts should not use any nut-based oils.

Butters, Creams and Lotions are also used as carriers and we offer an enriching Unscented Jojoba Lotion Base and Unscented Jojoba Cream Base, using the finest natural jojoba and nature's own restorative liquid wax. Jojoba acts both as an emollient and humectant, leaving skin soft and silky. It also contains antioxidants, minerals and vitamins and as a ready to use base for the skin.

Herbal Infused Oils is the process of extraction in which the volatile oils of a plant substance, such as calendula flowers, are obtained by soaking the plant in a carrier oil, such as extra virgin olive oil, for approximately two weeks and then straining the oil. The resulting oil is used therapeutically and may contain the plant's aromatic characteristic.

Butters and Waxes are used for lip balms, salves, solid perfumes, candles, soaps, craft items and more where a firmer texture is needed in a product.
