This wonderful oil has been used for centuries in Ayurvedic medicine to treat the hair and scalp. This small tree grows throughout India and bears the amla fruit (also known as Indian Gooseberry) which is edible, very tart and rich in pectin. The fruit contains one of the highest natural sources of Vitamin C. In fact, it is one of the world's oldest, natural hair conditioners. Used to penetrate the scalp and strengthen hair at its root to stop and reverse abnormal hair loss. Promotes stronger healthier new growth, with a rich natural shine and soft texture. It is also beneficial in helping to rejuvenate hair that is dull and damaged. It is used in a variety of hair care products such as shampoos, hot oil treatments, conditioner rinses and more.
Amla oil is extracted from dried Amla berries and this process is performed according to Ayurvedic principles. The fruits, cut into pieces are dried in the shade. These pieces are boiled which have been soaked in sesame oil for several days in order to extract the oil soluble vitamins from the fruit. The filtered and purified oil is commonly called Amla Oil.

Carrier oils, also referred to as base oils or vegetable oils, are used to dilute essential oils, CO2s and absolutes before applying to the skin. Each carrier oil offers different properties and the choice depends on the therapeutic benefit being sought. Unlike essential oils, carrier oils do not evaporate or impart their aroma as strongly as essential oils. However, they usually have a shorter shelf life and can be mixed with a natural preservative such as vitamin E or wheatgerm oil for longer storage. Carrier oils should be natural and preferably cold-pressed. This ensures that the therapeutic qualities remain in the oil and have not been damaged by heat or chemicals. People allergic to nuts should not use any nut-based oils.
