$13.50

Origin:  Kenya
Family: Asteraceae

Process:  Steam distilled – wood
Contraindications:  None known

Description:  Muhuhu essential oil is also called African Sandalwood.  It is considered rare and steam distilled from the cut hardwood leftovers of the tall slender Muhuhu trees found along the eastern African coasts of Kenya and Tanzania.  The hardwood is traditionally used for flooring, furniture making, carvings and crafts due to its beautiful marble grain design and reddish color when polished. Muhuhu is also called the oil of ordination.

The essential oil is a pale yellow, viscous oil with a soft but sweet, woody-smoky aroma.  Similar to (vetiver-cedarwood) but with a softer, finer aroma.

In natural perfumes, Muhuhu is an excellent general fixative and interesting essential oil to use because it is base note heavy while not affecting the overall aroma of other aromatics it is combined with.

In aromatherapy, its uses are for grounding and calming, meditation blends and anointing oils.  Beneficial in blends used for relaxation and stress.  Also used for its antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties.

Blends well with: Cedarwood, Frankincense, Geranium, Grapefruit, Mandarin, Neroli, Orange, Sandalwood, Jasmine, Patchouli, Rose, Rosewood, Vetiver, Ylang-ylang.

The essential oil contains a rare class of sesquiterpenes of amorphene and brachyl oxide as two of the main constituents, and ylangenal, cadalene, cubenol and copaenol, copaene, among others.
